Scandinavian Travel Specialist, Rory McDyer Travel, brings you a truly unique opportunity this winter to experience the phenomenon that is the Northern Lights in the beautiful and lively Norwegian city of Tromsø, high above the Arctic Circle.
Of all the must-see natural wonders of the world, the elusive Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) always figures as most desired and least achieved on the traveller’s wish lists. Located a mere 2000km from the North Pole, Tromsø makes for the perfect base for this experience boasting some of the highest levels of Northern Lights activity on earth. Tromsø is also famed for its wooden architecture, the impressive Arctic Cathedral, The Polar Museum, and Mack’s Brewery, the world’s most northern brewery on the globe, which supplies the city’s many bars & cafes.
“Aurora Borealis”: “Heavenly” is the more commonly used word to describe the experience of this celestial, playful, floating phenomenon. Most people are left speechless when they see it. The indigenous Sami people believed the Northern Lights were a god. There’s a more scientific explanation today but a genuine Tromsø local would still never dare wave to the Northern Lights!
