Le Meridien Dona Filipa
Located on the exclusive Vale do Lobo estate just 100 metres from the beach, Le Meridien Dona Filipa offers excellent service. A wide range of leisure and sports facilities are available, including the "Penguin Village" children's club (seasonal). The hotel owns the renowned San Lorenzo Golf Course (just a short drive away), which provides a challenging 18-holes.
On the beach, the hotel has a private area with sunbeds and towels for guests. Le Meridien Dona Filipa is furnished in traditional Portuguese style with a selection of fine restaurants and facilities for the sports minded, which include floodlit tennis and one of the best golf courses in Continental Europe.
The superb and well frequented San Lorenzo Golf Course, designed by Joseph Lee and owned by Le Meridien Dona Filipa, was recently considered one of the best golf courses in Europe. The hotel and golf club are unique when it comes to outstanding views, a calm and tranquil setting, and shows nature at its best. The golf club is a member of the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary System.
The course features large fast greens and undulating fairways which meander through avenues of pine trees. There are some spectacular holes overlooking the sea, which border lakes abundant with wildlife. The daunting 18th, with a semi-island green, to quote a cliché, is one of the best finishing holes in golf. San Lorenzo is beautifully maintained and set in an unspoilt area of natural beauty. A handicap limit of 28 for men and 36 for ladies applies.
Le Meridien Dona Filipa offers a wide range of facilities and services specifically tailored to meet and surpass the requirements and expectations of the hotel guests. There are a host of leisure facilities, with three floodlit tennis courts and instructor, a heated swimming pool and children's heated pool, sports and learning programmes for children up to 11 years old and the Penguin Village (to entertain our small guests).
The Primavera Restaurant at Le Meridian Dona Filipa was refurbished in 2000 and offers an all day menu and dinner Theme Buffet or á la Carte. The Dom Duarte Grill offers fine international a la Carte and the hotel bar offers a variety of refreshments, snack and cocktails.
